At 9:00 p.m. Saturday night, Detective Karen Ortman telephoned Jonathan Nyce at his parents’ home, requesting he return to Hopewell Police Department immediately for a second interview. But there was a heavy snowstorm in Pennsylvania and Nyce explained that conditions were too treacherous for driving. So it was agreed he would come at 9:00 the following morning.

But Hopewell detectives were taking no chances that their prime suspect might make a run for it, or even attempt suicide. So they asked the Collegeville Police Department to place him under round-the-clock physical surveillance, until he could make the trip back to New Jersey.
